The Life and Times of a Monkey on a Mission
2012 A New Beginning
Where should I start off my travel lifestyle? Truth is I can’t afford to start off on my RTW trip bouncing from one place to the next on a monthly or weekly basis. Nonetheless, this doesn’t mean my furry little butt needs to be stuck in the Midwest. The way I have things planned out is that I start my Masters in Education earning my Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) de...
The Real Rio
After reading through an article on Yahoo, Reining in Rio: Not Everything Goes at Carnival thanks to The Trip Chicks on twitter I was amazed at the changes to the Rio I once knew. Granted this little monkey only spent 4 months living there but that is long enough to call a place home. What I read from the article makes me question what my former home will look like once I return to visit. As Marcu...
Too Soon Mother Earth – Two Quakes in Two Months
I wonder if the charitable goodness within people will not diminish in hard economic times such as we are in, when two horrible earthquakes on opposite ends of South America compete for attention. I know it sounds horrible to put it like that but realistically it’s the truth. It is relatively easy to round up the initial wave of charity and contributions, but keeping that passion and drive a...
Perusian
In the USA identity plays an important role in the lives of many. It is who they interact with, date and even influence things like where they live or what religion they follow. Identity often is so interlocked with ethnicity that they become indistinguishable. Think of it this way e-harmony boast that it matches you on a kajillion levels of compatibility yet somehow you still manage to end up wit...
Tweet for Haiti
If there ever was a clear distinction between a traveler and a tourist I think the movement started by the Metador Network is a perfect example. Less than 24 hours ago (2/12/10 - 9:45 PM EST), an earthquake that registered a 7.0 hit Haiti, to put this into perspective the Great San Francisco earthquake of 1906 was an 8 and the West Java earthquake was also a 7 on the Richter scale. The latter...

New Brew Tuesday: Acme California IPA

Acme California IPA

Type: Beer

Name: Acme – California IPA

Price: $1.99

Made: Fort Bragg, CA

Alc/Vol: 6.5%

First off, let me say any beer with a picture of a pin up girl on it earns at least one banana in my book. This is a good IPA taste but if you aren’t an IPA fan then this isn’t the beer for you. India Pale Ale’s seem to be all-the-rave among craft-beer brewers. This is for good reason because of the true beer taste, it’s has as described by wikipedia, “hoppy, bitter and sometimes malty flavor.”

As for the beer itself, I would highly recommend it as long as Bud Light doesn’t constitute a ‘quality’ beer for you. Not, that Bud Wheat crap isn’t a full flavored beer either. Now as for a California IPA I can’t say how it ranks side by side with a StoneBrew but if I had to go off memory I would say it’s a close match. I am giving this beer a 3.5 out of 5 on the banana scale. What’s your take on this IPA?
